Thoughts in my head

Finally, a spot to let things spin out of my head - no doubt freeing up space for new thoughts, but I welcome change!

I think God is trying to cheer me up (but it's not working)

Well, Thursday evening, that (somewhat overfriendly) coworker invited me out to his place. His wife is out of town caring for her parents, and she took their two dogs. He insisted it was because he had waaaay too much food left over from his party, and also because he never gave me a proper tour of his garden & goldfish pond.

He picked me up at my house and we spent the evening chatting about many small-talk things, and he showed me the work he has done on his motorcycle. I showed him a parasite problem one of his chokecherry trees was having. He freaked out a little, and started lopping off branches, but stopped after three or four, thankfully. I thought he would turn it into a wooden post.

I don't know why he is so nice to me.

Now that I only have two jobs, give or take, to worry about on weekends, the work is manageable. I'm not as tired when I finish - that is appreciated. I'll miss the paycheck, but perhaps leaving Pepsi was for the best.

I was worried about the second clutch of snake eggs, since they were laid one week after the first clutch, and now it's been 1.5 weeks. The 23rd egg from the first clutch was not hatching, so it was recommended that I help it. I did, but it had several deformities. It did not make it :( I wish I knew what went wrong, and what I could have done differently.
Anyway, this morning I checked the incubator, and several eggs had slits! Two babies were actually poking their heads or noses out. The feeling of joy lasted a few seconds.

On Friday, I was driving towards my house after depositing my paycheck at the bank, and I saw something in the street. As I drove closer, I saw it was a kitten :( Seeing animals that have been hit on the road always tears me up inside (both ways).
However, it lifted its head. I immediately braked, pulled over, and rushed to help it.
Upon seeing me, it flipped out, bouncing around in the roadway since it couldn't stand up. I finally cornered it, held it, and began checking for injuries.

I found no broken bones, though it was meowing mournfully. Other people stopped and offered kind words. I brought it home, and put it in a pet carrier (the one Sara made the trip to my house in). It was fine through the day, and perhaps ate a little food and drank some water. It mostly made a mess in the cage, but it seemed calm & uninjured.
That evening, I took the kitty out and petted it for a while. I decided to let it stay in the basement overnight, as it was getting chilly, and the cat might still be in shock.
When I closed the door to my house after retrieving my keys, the rush of air scared the kitten, which jumped from my arms, landed 10 feet away, and ran off into the tall (comparatively) grass. I searched for it, along with Penny, and finally saw it and another small cat run under the lumber company's warehouse next door.
I hope the family of cats there will adopt the kitten. I left food for them, and wish them the best.
