Thoughts in my head

Finally, a spot to let things spin out of my head - no doubt freeing up space for new thoughts, but I welcome change!

It's the most "busiest" time of the yeeear...

Yes, I have been up since 2am or so this morning, and have quite a bit to do before I shower & climb into bed... but I'm taking a break - my feet hurt!

Rather than bore y'all with all the details, here's a rundown of the last few days, starting with Christmas...
After sleeping in a bit, and spending some time online (always a nice start :) ), my dad called. After all the usual words from him, and a few I was able to sneak in, that ordeal was over.

Went over to my sister's house, bearing gifts, and then they wouldn't answer the doorbell as I rang it. I thought "Oh well, I'm okay with that - I've got food & movies at home", so I set the gifts on the step, and went home.
Half an hour later, my mom called from my brother's cellphone, and asked me if I needed a ride. I explained what had happened, and she apologized, and invited me back over. Apparently they never heard the bell ring. hmm...
As difficult as driving over the first time was, the second was 10 times harder!
I did it, and the afternoon went well enough, though I was surprised to see some other (than my family) people there - my sister had invited another family for dinner. They are without their father now for reasons I won't get into...
At first, I didn't even know who they were, but I soon put two & two & other things together. It was strange that no-one introduced us though, as I've only had brief contact with the mother in the past - never met the kids.
Well, dinner was at 3pm, and when my sister had to go to work - I left also (both she & my mom loaded me down with food - leftovers & pie, cookies, and cake).

I got home, did my chores, and watched "Primer". I liked it - it was good for an indie project. I thought it was about time travel, but it was actually more about the relationship between two amateur inventors as they discovered something new & exciting. The plot took a little guessing to figure out (I suppose that's what director's comments are for), but was well-done.
->If you want a job done right, do it yourself<-
->Don't let your accomplishments get in the way of your closest friendships<-

I also watched "Garden State" again - I forgot how bad the language got in that movie!! :$ Overall, though, it's a very good movie - and of course Natalie Portman is as cute & energetic as ever!
->When you find that person, don't let go!<-
->While solving life's problems, don't forget to keep your priorities straight<-
->Doing what you can for your friends, however small it may be, is the best way to show your appreciation, & may be just what they need to get through tough times.<-

Anyhoo, while looking over past blog entries, I've noticed I seem to blog only when I'm down! While blogging is a good way to unwind, and give my head a break from frustrating & impatient thoughts, I don't want those to be the only records of me :) Some might disagree, but there is more to me than that! So, I will make an effort to post nice, happy thoughts from time to time ;)

Not Your Typical Christmas Weekend

Well, I started today by working a lot - a normal Sunday, actually.
I got a co-worker who also stocks shelves on weekends to help me out with one store - $15 well spent!

I did a little shopping (Christmas & personal automotive needs), and then stopped by the video rental store to pick out some movies for tonight & tomorrow.
"Lady In The Water" released on DVD December 19th, but it was not in stock.
I also wanted to rent "The Last Kiss", but it wasn't supposed to be on the shelf, as it's not officially released 'til next week (I did get a free movie credit for bringing it to their attention, though I'd rather have the movie).
Ended up with Click, Legend of Lucy Keyes (starring Julie Delpy), and Garden State (been a while since I've seen it :) ) I also have "Primer" to watch, and maybe some cartoons or other shows on tv tonight... if I get my other duties done.

I cleaned snakie cages (corn snakes were starting to smell a bit - they're messy for such little critters!) and parrot cage, fed rats, dog, cat, and lizard, and now I am off to clean an aquarium I have in a local nursing home (I should take some pics...).

Then, home to eat something, watch some tv/movies, maybe listen to "Old Time Radio", then sleeeeep :) I'll get to sleep in again, as I did this Saturday. That sure was nice - I can't remember the last time I didn't need to wake up at a certain time for work!

Tomorrow at noon, I'm invited to my sister & her husband's house for Christmas dinner & gift exchange. Hopefully it goes smoothly - I like seeing my family, but am beginning to dread get-togethers because of the potential for problems :(
I think I will wake up mid-morning & wash my car first. It's been a while, and I should wash & wax it before the weather gets much colder & messier.
I'm thinking I should call my dad to wish him a merry Christmas - wish me luck with that.

Well, time to finish up the day's activities before I get too tired & decide to stay put :)
