Finally, a spot to let things spin out of my head - no doubt freeing up space for new thoughts, but I welcome change!

'Cuz I can't sleep, that's why!

It sucks.

I work all day - all week. Then I can't fall asleep at night. On top of that, I need to get up earlier than usual, because I have more work than normal lately.

So, after watching a couple movies (Vanilla Sky & Guess Who), fixing a late meal (penne pasta topped with sauce with mushrooms and finely grated cheddar cheese), checking all my new emails (nothing interesting), browsing the web (pretty much the same, though I did find an amazing picture), checking my usual forums (blah)... I wound up going through my several years' worth of bookmarks.

I'd kind of forgotten about this.

So, I'll see if "The Break-Up" will put me to sleep... Thank goodness for Blockbuster!

Leigh Nash - I've Gotta See You Smile

post script...

"That smile is gonna be the end of me"

That's a line from Vanilla Sky - probably my favorite line - spoken by David Aames to Sofia Serrano. There are a lot of awesome quotes in that movie - check them out here.

Oh, and that Leigh Nash song is from Because Of Winn-Dixie - that's what popped that quote into my head :)
That movie has a nice soundtrack, too.

The latest song that won't leave my head...

A local radio station "106.7 The Eagle" recently changed its format to "all alternative - all the time". So now instead of classic rock, and a fair dose of the current stuff from alt rock to pop rock to the heavy stuff... they play pretty much all alternative rock. The selection is a bit more limited, but I still like most of it.

I heard this song for the first time the very first day of their new format, and loved it immediately. I've heard it probably several times a day every day since then, and still am not tired of it (listening to it on repeat right now).

My music download service went goofy on me, and all my computer-stored music is inaccessible (hopefully for the time being - between songs & music videos, I had about 4200 files!) More urgency lended to my planned computer revamp...
So, as a result, I can't provide a download link. I saved you all the trouble of looking it up on YouTube, though :)

NEWSBOYS!!!!

Yep! Last Saturday evening, I got to see the Newsboys live in concert at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center.
As I & my friend walked into the venue, I noticed merchandise tables set up for local radio stations, Christian organizations, the Newsboys and... Stellar Kart and Kutless.
Christian surf/punk/pop band Stellar Kart's "Me & Jesus" is just an awesome awesome song, and Kutless, while usually exhibiting more of a hard/rock edge, has turned their focus a bit and also has a few really meaningful worship-type songs (additionally, their other songs tend to be quite poignant(see 2.a.2 & 2.b)). They remind me a bit of the Australian band Tourniquet.
I'd put up some download links, but my server seems to have disappeared. I'd post some YouTube videos, but I'm running out of steam - perhaps tomorrow.

After a short message & half hour intermission, out came Peter, Paul, Jeff & Dunny!
I had seen them years ago at the Rave in Milwaukee (slightly different lineup then - this was November of '97, you see - right after John James (founding member with Peter Furler/lead singer/frontman) left to pursue a more speaking-oriented ministry & spend more time with his family. I just remembered a cute moment - when Kutless was on stage, (the lead singer) Jon Micah's son toddled onto the stage to be with his dad. He was wearing noise-deadening headphones as big as his little head!!

I was really impressed with the way they put on an excellent show, with confetti flying, sun-bright lights flashing & spinning across the concert hall, bass thumping the floor, seats, and internal organs.
Sounds like a real fun rock show, huh?
It was, yet they didn't compromise their message (living up to their name :) ), with Peter speaking for quite a while about lessons he learned while growing up, remembering experiences where God clearly took over and kept them from harm, and praying that we'd all look for God's influence to be shared, rather than thinking we can effect any change on our own. It really brought tears to my eyes to hear him speak so passionately about his calling to "preach" through the music & ministry of the Newsboys. I pray so hard that God would give me a clear purpose & ministry in life. Maybe He's not done transforming me yet. I trust that I'll get there some day.

So, it was nice to get out to a concert. I haven't done that in a while. It used to be a nearly weekly experience for me, but I just work so darn much now. Life can't all be fun & games &... concerts :P

Due to the location of the concert(s), my friend probably expected something a bit more, shall I say, tame? We were both dressed up a bit (though most attendees were), but throughout the evening, I really got warm, and ended up taking off my coat & rolling up my sweater's sleeves! I think I scared my friend with singing along to so many songs (the Newsboys & I go waaaay back ;) ), not to mention all the jumping around, clapping, and waving. She did enjoy herself, though, she said so!

I'm grateful to God that in this area there are so many Christian radio stations. That brings many music tours to the area, and there's never a month without a concert or two or five!

Oh yeah, they performed one of their more recent songs which is still an all-time favorite of mine.
Hope you enjoy!

WAAAAH! It got smaller!!!
